How to Prepare a Floor Plan
Your floor plan doesn’t need to be professionally drawn.
Follow these four steps to prepare a clear and accurate floor plan of your home for your Vastu assessment.

Prepare Your Floor Plan
Use an existing floor plan from your builder, realtor, architect or previous renovation if you have one.
Don’t have a floor plan?
A hand-drawn version works too. Draw the complete outline of your home and clearly show each room, wall, door, window and main entrance.
If your home has multiple floors, include a separate floor plan for each level.

Keep Proportions Accurate
Your floor plan doesn’t need to be professionally drawn, but the shape and proportions should closely represent your actual home.
Rooms should appear roughly the correct size in relation to one another.
Avoid making rooms larger, smaller, wider or narrower simply to fit them on the page.
If drawing the floor plan yourself, measure the main walls and add approximate dimensions whenever possible.

Find & Mark True North
If you’re not providing the property address, True North must be marked on your floor plan.
Stand as close as possible to the center of your home and open the Compass app on your phone. Make sure the compass is set to True North, not Magnetic North.
Hold your phone flat and allow the reading to settle.
Determine which direction North points from where you’re standing, then draw an arrow pointing in the same direction on your floor plan and label it N.

Final Check Before Upload
Before uploading your floor plan, make sure:
✓ The entire floor plan is visible
✓ All floors are included, if applicable
✓ Rooms are clearly identified
✓ Doors, windows and the main entrance are shown
✓ Proportions are reasonably accurate
✓ True North is marked if no property address is provided
✓ Text and measurements are easy to read
